The legal battle between Epic Games and Apple recently reignited, with both entities fighting in the US Court of Appeals to overturn the original ruling.
When Fortnite players were given the option for in-app purchases in 2020, Apple took offense and said that it violated App Store rules. Epic Games then countered with an antitrust lawsuit to question these same rules.
Though Epic lost the suit, they did manage to get Apple to agree to open a channel for in-app links outside of the App Store that allow payments. In addition, Epic argued that multiple errors were made by the legal system during its ruling. Despite this, Apple continues to hold firm with regards to the rules set forth by its App Store.
The legal battle between Epic Games and Apple is set to resume on November 14 at 2 pm Pacific time in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
