TMZ  reports that although no foul play is suspected, an autopsy and toxicology test will be performed to determine the official cause. Police found substances inside the home, which will be tested for possible narcotics. Prescription pills were reportedly found, but it's unclear if they were a factor in his death.

Painter, who was the captain of the F/V Maverick, appeared in Deadliest Catch from 2006 until 2007 for seasons 2 and 3 when he reportedly quit.
