The women of Monterey Bay are coming back: HBO's "Big Little Lies" is one of the most highly-anticipated returns and here's everything we know about the new season.

Big Little Lies was originally only going to be one season long, but now its been extended since everyone wanted more of the Monterey moms.

First off, it will be seven episodes. There's a new director attached to the series. Jean-Marc Vallee, who directed season one, said, "If we do a season two, we'll break [a] beautiful thing and spoil it."

Luckily, all the moms are all back. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley are all returning as characters. Not to mention Meryl Streep will be joining the crew as the mom of Alexander Skarsgard's character.

There was an enormous amount of protection and love for these characters from us as women. It was lovely being in their skin for a period of time, just because of the complexity of them and their truth. I really think theres an enormous amount of truth that vibrates, and thats why people are responding.

The author of the book Big Little Lies also wrote the story for season 2. The showrunner and writer of season one, David D. Kelley will also be writing the episodes.

Alexander Skarsgard might be back although he was the (spoiler) victim of the "accident" in season one, but it's rumored hell be back in season two for some flashbacks.

Bonnie's (played by Kravitz) parents will be making an appearance. Other new characters, Douglas Smith who will play Corey Brockfield an "aspiring marine biologist" and Janes coworker.

Fans will have to wait for more answers though; the show won't be back until 2019.
