The United States only needed a tie to qualify for the World Cup after suffering home losses to Mexico last November and Costa Rica. The loss came to the small island of Trinidad who had previously loss their six previous qualifier games. Mexico, Honduras, and Panama will be the three teams to advance out of the United States division.
