Tuesday morning, Real Madrid announced that their star forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, will be leaving the club. It has been reported that Ronaldo has agreed to a deal with the Italian club Juventus in a deal worth approximately $35 million per season. Juventus will pay Real Madrid a buyout fee upwards of $117 million. The move comes after nine seasons with the club in which he helped bring home two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns.

I believe that the time has come to open a new stage in my life and that is why I have asked the club to accept transferring me. Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you.

Real Madrid thanked Cristiano Ronaldo for his time at the Santiago Bernabeu in a public statement saying:

Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved in the playing fields during these 9 years, "Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement... For Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of the great symbols and a unique reference for the next generations. Real Madrid will always be your home."
