Singer Robbie Williams kicked off the World Cup Thursday by disgustingly flipping off the television cameras during his opening ceremony performance.

The British pop star was performing his song "Rock DJ" at the packed Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow when he made the gesture. Clearly, he wasn't phased knowing that the broadcast was being witnessed by millions of people excited to watch the big event.

Very excited to be returning to Russia to perform at the opening of the @FIFAWorldCup - tune in early on Thursday for an unforgettable show! #WorldCup

One angry fan took to social media to address the vulgar display by tweeting, "So this is who FIFA chose to open the games? Very professional."

Williams, who had been criticised in both Russia and England before the event for agreeing to participate in the ceremony, said he was told not to use his controversial song "Party Like a Russian." He instead belted out hits "Let Me Entertain You" and "Rock DJ."
