Jhene Aiko’s New Album Trip Is An Odyssey Of Self Discovery
Jhene Aiko’s surprised us all with her new album Trip. The album is a beautiful and heartfelt dedication to her brother Miyagi who died of cancer in 2012.
Her odyssey to find peace with her loss takes her on various journeys. Aiko is left searching for a man who has some part of her close friend and with each encounter she looks for someone soulful with humor, and is left wanting. Her talent as a songwriter is so evident and has been building through her previous works “Lyin’ King”, “W.A.Y.S.” and “Spotless Mind.” Her odyssey to find peace with her loss takes her on an endless journey of self-discovery.

Sometimes I am very descriptive and it’s very, you know, real. Just word-for-word, all those things happened. Sometimes, I’ll take a situation and just sort of be more creative with my vision and use my imagination a little more while describing a real situation. But I definitely have some things that only me and God know.
It’s an emotional rollercoaster of falling in and out of love and Aiko is more vulnerable than ever. Trip has 22 tracks with appearances by Big Sean, Swae Lee, Kurupt, Brandy, Mali Music, and more. It also includes the previously released single “While We’re Young.”
