Country singer Carrie Underwood released a heartfelt new song titled "Cry Pretty" about the hardships she's faced this year.

Carrie Underwood is making all of her fans ugly cry today. She released a powerful new song titled "Cry Pretty" where she sings, "You can pretty can pretty smile...but you can't cry pretty." The song seems to reference the recent hardships that she's endured after she took a fall outside her home in Nashville in November. She had to have surgery on her wrist and had to have over 40 stitches in her face.

The title refers to when emotions take over and you just cant hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. Its emotional. Its real.

Cry Pretty

She co-wrote the dramatic ballad with Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, and Hillary Lindsey. She told her fans on a blogpost, that she's been working hard on her next project. "Ive been in the studio writing and singing a TON, but Ive also been able to be creative in a way that Ive never been before, which has been very fulfilling and empowering," she says.
