Musical based on Michael Jackson's life will hit Broadway in 2020

A Michael Jackson musical is on track to premiere on Broadway in 2020; the show will include his classic songs.

A musical based on the life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson is in the works and will premiere on Broadway in 2020.


The news comes from The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage. There's not a lot of details yet, but so far the musical will be written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage and directed by Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon, the songs will be MJ's iconic music.

The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage have partnered to develop a musical inspired by the pop icon; the show is expected to bow in New York in 2020.


Jackson's life was plagued by scandal. He had a traumatic childhood and had many controversies throughout his career including allegations of child abuse.


This is the first time a Broadway musical will be sanctioned by the Estate. There are no confirmed songs yet, but hopefully, all the classics will be there.


The search for who will play Jackson will be difficult, the superstar had very distinctive vocals and was an incredibly talented dancer.
