Wes Anderson has finally released the highly-anticipated trailer for Isle of Dogs. The film is set in a futuristic Japan where an outbreak of “dog flu” makes the government issue a dog quarantine. A young boy pilot flies to the island to find his dog and the Mayor tries to stop him. It’s adorable, it’s whimsical, and you’ll probably cry.
Much like his film Fantastic Mr. Fox, the movie is stop-motion which allows Anderson to really explore his love for aesthetics and makes the talking dogs thing work.
There’s a massive amount of talent in the voice department with Anderson standbys like Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, and Bryan Cranston.
