Eminem claims #1 spot on Billboard Artist 100 for the first time

It's hard to believe it, but for the first time, Eminem has taken the number one position on Billboard's Artist 100 chart.

Eminem's Revival was one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year and after his 8th consecutive No. debut on the Billboard 200 he finally took his position as the number one artist on Billboard's Artist 100. The songs "River," "Walk On Water," and "Believe" are all songs on the Top 100 right now.

When I hear people say they miss the old Eminem and then I do the old Eminem, people go, "Oh, man, he's too old to do that. He needs to mature his content. He's growing up as a man. He's in his 40s and he's supposed to be this way or that way." You know what I'm saying?

According to Nielsen Music, Eminem debuted with 267,000 equivalent album units. Which makes Slim Shady the first artist to have those eight consecutive titles all at the desired number one slot. Billboard bases this on "key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity."
