Today, (June 7), which would've marked Prince's 60th birthday, his estate announced a new project.

A previously unheard home studio cassette of the late musician performing on his piano in 1983 will be released with the title "Piano & A Microphone" and will be available on September 21st.

The nine-track project will be released in coordination with Warner Bros. Records. It's now available for pre-order.

Prince Estate entertainment advisor Troy Carter said, "This raw, intimate recording, which took place at the start of Prince's career right before he achieved international stardom, is similar in format to the Piano & A Microphone Tour that he ended his career within 2016."

He added in the statement that, "The Estate is excited to be able to give fans a glimpse of his evolution and show how his career ultimately came full circle with just him and his piano."

The songs will hear Prince going through tracks including, "17 Days" and "Purple Rain," and even a cover of Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You."

The album cover has an image of the great purple-one backstage during his 1999 tour taken by Allen Beaulieu, the photographer who shot the covers of Dirty Mind and Controversy.
