The artist released a trailer which detailed each title further emphasizing the albums focus on substance abuse in different ways. He used an alter ego named kiLL edward meaning its not directly from Coles perspective. Hes known for being a storyteller, and his ability to shift the narrative has been one of his tried-and-true methods. The cover art for the album, a striking impressionist view of J. Cole as a king overseeing kids doing drugs, was created by Detroits Sixmau and includes a disclaimer, “This album is in no way intended to glorify addiction.” J. Cole won't give any more details, as he's leaving the interpretation up to the listeners.
