Instagram is changing things up. The social platform now allows users to post hour long videos.

The platform is called IGTV and will have videos shot in a vertical format as opposed to landscape. To find IGTV, you hit the apps Explore tab, and the content will appear there as it becomes available. As soon as youre in IGTV you already have your channels; they are the people you already follow

Our proudest accomplishment is building a thriving community of a billion, which is just wild beyond our wildest beliefs.

It's very similar to Snapchat's Discover channel, but the difference is you already follow the channels you want.

Kevin Systrom, the founder of Instagram, detailed that the videos would make it easy to get more content in a mobile way. There are no ads currently, but they aren't ruling out the possibility of ads in the future.

IGTV also has a standalone app, but you can still view it in the regular Instagram form. Instagram is encouraging that users keep the videos at around 10 minutes just like YouTube vlogs. The videos must be at minimum 15-seconds. Anyone can make the videos not only content creators.

Systrom says, "Anyone can be a creator you can upload your own IGTV videos in the app or on the web to start your own channel."
