Ready for this? Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world.

Yes, let that sink in a little. That title now belongs to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who clocked in with a whopping $112 billion on Forbes' 32nd Annual World Billionaires List for the first time on Tuesday.

According to Forbes, Bezos' fortune, which is mostly held in Amazon shares, increased by $39.2bn over the past year the biggest ever one-year gain. That's not all. Amazon's shares have nearly doubled from $846 a share last March to $1,523 per share last night, according to the outlet.

We all get to choose our life stories. Its our choices that define us, not our gifts. You can only be proud of your choices.

Though Gates need not worry, he landed the next coveted spot on the list with a satisfying $90 billion. Seeing that he's been the richest person in the world for 18 of the past 24 years, maybe it was time he passed the torch.
