Blizzard Entertainment has followed through with their announcement to make their world-famous real-time strategy game free-to-play. StarCraft is now free to download for all PC and Mac users via Blizzards Battlenet client. The original Wings of Liberty game will be available to all new players, and existing players will be able to download the Heart of Swarm expansion for free to new players.

Command all multiplayer units and begin your ascent of a vast competitive ladder with leagues for every level of play. Access Unranked and Versus AI for free; unlocked Ranked with 10 first wins of the day on Unranked or Versus AI.

The game has been reorganized into 3 parts, Story Campaign, Versus, and Co-op missions. Even though the game has been announced as F2P, there is a minor limitation on what F2P players may access. The Co-op Mission commanders will have a select number of characters that may be leveled up to their fullest potential; however, the remaining characters may only be leveled up to level five.
