When Lindsey Thiry interviewed Sammy Watkins in the locker room, she never expected to be the source of a massive social media frenzy. She explains that what started as a normal conversation about football shifted into more philosophical things and she joked with Watkins about believing in the flat-earth theory and he said he believed it.
Lindsey asked if she could tweet it and he agreed. For those who don’t know, flat-earthers believe that the earth is flat rather than the oblate spheroid that science would have us believe.
I said, ‘Sammy, you’re not one of those guys who thinks the earth is flat, are you?’ And he goes, ‘Well, yeah, I do,’” Thiry said in her video. “I said, ‘Sammy?’ He said, ‘Yeah, I do.’ I said, ‘I’m tweeting this,’ and he said, ‘OK.’
