New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, according to the league and ESPN.

As of right now, the suspension is currently under appeal as Edelman has taken "hundreds of tests" and has not tested positive before, reports the outlet.

Any time you get to go out and see the fellas, play with them, talk with them, be in the huddle and look at guys, and participate in drills, that's what you play the game for ultimately. It was tough to watch it on the sidelines last year. To come out here and do little things, strap on the helmet, it put some perspective on how lucky you are to get to play the game.

If the suspension goes through, the 32-year-old would forfeit $470,588.20 in base salary and sit out the Patriots' first four games against Houston, Jacksonville, Detroit and a home game against Miami.

Edelman is returning from an ACL tear during the 2017 preseason that forced him to miss the entire season. He is entering his 10th season in the NFL.

Great to be back out there with the guys. One day at a time. #Yalla
