Giants put Manning back as starter

Deciding to put Manning back in will appease fans, especially after Geno Smith's lackluster, turnover-filled performance.

In an unusual move, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported that Eli Manning is expected to return as the New York Giants' starting quarterback after a one-week demotion to backup.

The Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Raanan wrote that "there had been talk of former players coming to the game and standing on the sideline in No. 10 Manning jerseys in a show of solidarity."

I do not know for certain if I'm starting. I hope I am. I did speak with Coach Spags for a little bit, told him I wanted to be starting QB, be out there and win these four games. He said he appreciated that and was going to talk with the offensive guys, and I hope I'm out there against the Dallas Cowboys.

Perhaps the two-time Super Bowl winner would like to leave the Giants with a bang, but he is leaving. It's clear a divorce between Manning and the franchise is coming soon.

It would seem getting young third-stringer Davis Webb more reps and game time would be something the Giants would investigate.
