Brand-new New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is marked as a lead horse as favorite to be named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, according to Bleacher Report.

Betting outlets Bovada and Oddshark both released early odds to win the award Tuesday, and Barkley handily leads all potential candidates and with good reason. The former Penn State standout is expected to do yeoman's work in his rookie season, as a runner and pass catcher.

If you think about it, this kid makes our quarterback better, he makes our receivers better, he makes our O-line better. He makes our defense better because he has the much stronger ability to hold the ball. He is a great kid and he will be great for our culture.

The No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL draft is running on the best odds at +150 ($100 bet to win $150) to win the award as the top offensive rookie for 2018, with No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield second at +275, per Oddshark's early sheet.

Bovada has Barkley at 3/2 odds, with Mayfield still a clear second with 11/4 odds. Both players are well past newly drafted Bills QB Josh Allen who sits at 8/1.
