Cardinals place Adrian Peterson on IR

The decision comes after Arizona head coach Bruce Arians he had 'no idea' if Peterson would play again this season. The Cardinals (6-7) are a playoff long shot.

Per a tweet for ESPN's Adam Schefter, Arizona Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson has been shut down for the season, due to a neck injury suffered in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

The future Hall of Fame back had been inactive for the last two weeks.

Peterson has 156 carries for 529 yards this season.
