It's official: Kristen Wiig lands role in 'Wonder Woman 2' as Cheetah

"Wonder Woman" has a new villain for its sequel, and you're going to love her: meet Kristen Wiig, but you can call her Cheetah.

The countdown to Wonder Woman 2 just got that much more exciting. 


It's final after weeks speculation, that yes, Kristen Wiig has officially signed on to join the DC Comics universe. The highly-anticipated film's director Patty Jenkins put our nerves at ease with one tweet on Friday. 

I'm SO excited welcome on board Kristen! This is going to be WONDERful!

"So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It's true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family," she shared with fans. "Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot."


Wiig will take the reins as Cheetah, the sequel's villain and Wonder Woman's longtime comic book rival with superhuman strength and agility who tends to thrive on human flesh.


Gal Gadot, who has breathed life into the iconic role of Wonder Woman, also shared her thoughts about Wiig's casting via Twitter, writing, "I'm SO excited welcome on board Kristen! This is going to be WONDERful!"
