Bruce Willis will play legendary boxing trainer Constantine "Cus" D'Amato in Cornerman, a feature written and scheduled to be directed by Homeland and The Death of Stalin star Rupert Friend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will be Friend's his feature-length directorial debut.

Cornerman will tell the story of D'Amato, one of the boxing's legendary trainers, from the point he meets a young Brooklyn knucklehead named Mike Tyson.

Ultimately, this is a story about a deep love between two ferocious talents, each brave enough to admit their fears to the other, and so spur one another to greatness. It is a story about fighting for what you believe in, and a film that will make you question what strength really is.

The casting was announced on Monday morning, ahead of the kickoff of the 71st Cannes Film Festival. The film will start shooting in the fall.

However, the role of a troubled and teenaged version of Mike Tyson hasn't been realized as of yet. Per THR, the producers say a worldwide search for actors in the role, which could determine the success of the film.
