Why is everyone in love with 'A Quiet Place'?

"A Quiet Place" has been getting glowing reviews from critics and other actors, but what makes the movie so interesting is the family relationship.

Emily Treadgold

The new horror movie A Quiet Place centers around the story of a family trying to survive in a world where there are monsters that can hunt you based on sound. It's been receiving glowing reviews not just from critics but also from actors. It stars everyones favorite celebrity couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

The movie does what all good horror movies do; it brings to light human issues in a dark setting. This movie centers around a family's relationship and the idea that parents are unable to keep their kids safe. It preys on real fears with the added element of something supernatural.

Krasinski, who directed the movie, told Variety, "The thing I bonded to most in the original draft was this idea of family. We had just had our second daughter three weeks before I read the script. I was an open nerve. So when I did my rewrite, I thought I could really make this a metaphor for parenthood the idea of protecting your kids. And how far would you go to protect them? After that, all the scary stuff came because you care so much about this family."

TIME gave the movie a glowing review saying, "Krasinski has made one of the most poetic horror movies of recent years. Its sound design alone is glorious, locating the infinite gradations in that thing we so casually call silence. A Quiet Place, its shivery terrors aside, captures the imperfect textures of family life."

I cannot tell you how freaking dope that movie is. It will scare the crap out of you. Its moving, its inventive. Its unlike everything youve ever seen. I cannot endorse this movie enough. John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, two kids, freaky fing monsters. You just gotta go see it.

Chris Pratt couldn't even wait to brag about the movie.

"I know that Im not supposed to be driving and shooting a video at the same time, but Im stuck in traffic," the Guardians of the Galaxy star says in a video posted to his Instagram account over the weekend. "I just got out of A Quiet Place you have to go see this movie! Just cancel your plans, stop what youre doing and go to the movie theater."

Even the legendary man of horror, Stephen King, wrote on Twitter: "A QUIET PLACE is an extraordinary piece of work. Terrific acting, but the main thing is the SILENCE, and how it makes the camera's eye open wide in a way few movies manage."
