UFC president Dana White confirmed to TMZ sports that CM Punk (0-1) will fight Mike Jackson (0-1) in a welterweight bout at UFC 225 on June 9 at the United Center in Punk's hometown of Chicago.
The fight was first reported as a possibility months ago and has since been finalized.
CM Punk is wrestling/performance name of Phil Brooks. He began his mixed martial arts career at UFC 203, where he lost to Mickey Gall in a first-round submission.
Jackson (0-1) gained his professional loss (in his lone MMA fight) to Gall. Same as Punk, the Houston native alos succumbed to Gall through a first-round submission.
Punk's future will be difficult to project, even if he manages to beat Jackson. One has to wonder how much better he can get in a short amount of time, given his age (39) and late arrival to MMA.
That is the fight. That's the fight.
