Mayweather vs. McGregor MMA match talks heat up

Mayweather and Showtime executive Stephen Espinosa has long hinted at Floyd trying his hand at MMA - for a massive payday of course.

According to renowned boxing journalist Gareth A. Davies (h/t Bleacher Report), his sources say negotiations are being made for a splashy rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor - inside of the UFC octagon.

Perhaps the vision of Mayweather getting to that octagon on social media has some teeth.

Davies told TalkSport's Jim White his breakdown, through what he's heard.

Conor McGregor had no chance in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. People will tune in to see Mayweather get stopped by Conor McGregor, and it won't affect his boxing record. I think it's going to happen, and I think it will be a three-, four-, five-hundred million dollar fight again.

Davies is correct in saying people would pay large sums to see Money Mayweather destroyed in the octagon - and it sounds like all involved are betting on it.

Ideas of an MMA bout between the brash fighters has been surging as of late, with both Mayweather and Showtime executive Stephen Espinosa hinting at Floyd trying out MMA.
