The 41-year-old actor has checked into rehab at The Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona, according to multiple outlets. Farrell is clean and seeking treatment voluntarily.

The Beguiled star is enlisting the help of the center's rehab program as a preemptive measure following a series of stressful events this year.

"He was overwhelmed for the past year, and the urges started to come back with being so busy at work, and he felt, eventually, out of control and thought maybe he should get ahead of it before he starts using again," an insider told the Daily Mail. "He decided to pre-emptively check himself in before it went to a bad place. He didn't want to go down that rabbit hole again."

Farrell, who has been sober for nearly 11 years, sought treatment in 2005 for his substance issues after he wrapped the film Miami Vice.

Miami Vice wrapped and I was put on a plane and sent to rehab. I had quite a high tolerance for various drugs for years, I thought. It accumulated to the point where I couldnt put my foot on the brake anymore.
