Mr. Triple Double wins MVP.

Graphicle: Russell Westbrook pulled of the nearly impossible feat of averaging a triple-double this season, winning the league MVP.

The close of Russell Westbrook's season came to light at the NBA's inaugural awards show at Basketball City at Pier 36 in New York City. Westbrook was joined by James Harden (22), Kawhi Leonard (9) and LeBron James (1) in the running for league MVP.

The young Oklahoma City Thunder point guard was named the 2016-17 Most Valuable Player with 69 of the 101 first-place votes. An emotional Westbrook took the stage to give a thankful speech.

Westbrook led the league in scoring (31.6), third in assists (10.4) and 10th in rebounds (10.7) per game. The 28-year-old consistently broke the 30-10-10 line, but even with the remarkable consistency, putting up three 50-point triple-doubles.

I remember growing up just being home, playing the video games and stuff with my pops, and my mom sitting there and my brother and just talking about maybe one day I could be the MVP. Obviously I was joking at the time.
