Pizza Hut unveils "Pie Top II" sneakers for NCAA tournament

Pizza Hut is evidently taking the shoe game seriously, believing a connection with the culture, however gimmicky, will help them gain and retain younger customers.

Pizza Hut is back at it again.

The big box pizza chain is introducing its second shoe, the Pie Tops II, this week, per Emily Price of Fortune. ESPN's Darren Rovell reports that 50 pairs will be sold on Hypebeast in the next two weeks - arriving just in time for March Madness. Price provides a date of March 19, with no retail price.

The limited-edition sneaker will have buttons that can be used to order pizza. And also pause college basketball games while you get your pie from the delivery man.

Yes, you've read that correctly.

Beyond the whole being able to order a pizza and pause your television thing, the shoes also feature “extreme marinara splash, cheese grater mesh, branded Pizza Hunt lace tags, extra cheese pull laces, and branded inner soles.

Sneaker designer Dominic Chambrone, also famously known as the "Shoe Surgeon" created the tech-infused high-tops, which are definitely a stylistic and quality upgrade from last year's plain model. It will come in red and wheat colorways with better tolling and materials.

The Pie Tops operate using Bluetooth technology that connects the kicks to the Pizza Hut app on the users phone. The game is paused using your DVR receiver if you have units from Spectrum, DirecTV, Xfinity, Dish, and Fios.
