The Spurs can offer him the full supermax at around $219 million, which is considerably more than what could be provided on the open market after the final season of his current contract that expires next summer.

The San Antonio Spurs are preparing to repair their relationship with star forward Kawhi Leonard, in the best way possible - by offering him the supermax, according to San Antonio Express-News.

People are just looking for spin. I haven't been here long. I've been here six years. The Spurs have been here way longer than that. People are gonna go with that take first.

The likelihood of the Spurs and Leonard repairing their relationship wouldn't be difficult, especially with the supermax on the table. His reputation off the court could also be a straightforward fix.

"If I were counseling (Leonard) on how to patch things up, Id say, you first have to come out and own it," said Marc Bluestein, CEO/founder of Maryland-based marketing firm Aquarius Sports and Entertainment, to the San Antonio Express-News.

"So if (Leonard) was going to stay a San Antonio Spur, he has to get out in a press conference with Pop and/or (Spurs general manager) R.C. Buford and talk about, 'Hey, last year is water under the bridge. There are reasons why I made the choices I made, but I have since talked with coach and ownership, management, etc., and we all have an understanding, and I am looking forward to helping the Spurs get back to what the fans and the people of San Antonio expect from this organization,' " he continued.

"Hes going to get pushed on why he made the decisions that he made, and the media is going to have to ask those questions," Bluestein added. "But that would be the first thing you just have to hit it head-on."
