Greg Popovich might have once again found a way to work magic.

Kawhi Leonard is expected to sign an extension with the San Antonio Spurs, according to multiple reports. Throughout the season there was much speculation throughout the league that Kawhi could end up bolting out of San Antonio due to conflicts within the front office.

I don't feel like nothing was friction. I talk to [head coach Gregg Popovich] every day. He knows what the progressions were. He knew what I was doing the whole entire time, as well as the front office. We made a group decision.

Leonard only appeared in nine games in the 2017-2018 season due to a right quad injury. During those appearances, his numbers were down, averaging just 16.2 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 2.3 APG.

Although nothing is official, Pop might just have secured the ammo he needed to make a push to sign key pieces this summer in free agency. Only time will tell, but Spurs fans can momentarily take a deep breath.
