Fortunately for the Houston Rockets, they won't need his top-end defensive skills until the later rounds of Western Conference playoffs.

Houston Rockets forward Luc Mbah a Moute will miss most or all of their first-round matchup of the Western Conference playoffs with a dislocated right shoulder, according to ESPN.

Mbah a Moute had an MRI scan on Wednesday morning, but there's no timetable for his return.

Houston (65-16) has earned the top overall seed in the West playoffs, gearing up for either the Denver Nuggets or Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

He suffered the injury while dunking during the second quarter of the Rockets' 105-99 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Experiencing immediate pain, he left the game with 6:46 remaining.

Mbah a Moute, a versatile defender the Rockets would need in later rounds, previously missed 15 games with a dislocation of the same shoulder back in December.

I think it's less (severe than in December), but I don't know. We'll have to wait until tomorrow when he gets it checked out, see what happens.
