The New York Knicks got their man.

David Fizdale has agreed to a four-year deal to become their next coach, according to multiple media reports.

Fizdale met with Knicks owner James Dolan on Thursday in New York. ESPN says Dolan granted approval to president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry to proceed into contract negotiations with Fizdale.

It's going to take time. And that's been one of our issues over the years, that we tried to do it with quick fixes.

Fizdale traveled back to Los Angeles home Thursday night and will return to New York for a news conference early next week. He will also make the trip to Latvia to meet with and check on injured Knicks All-Star center Kristaps Porzingis.

Fizdale coached the Memphis Grizzlies into the Western Conference playoffs in his first and only full season as coach but was let go for reasons not entirely explained.
