Though the evening in Oakland largely belonged to Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams and his 50-point explosion, Golden State Warriors superstar Durant stamped his name in the league's annals with the impressive milestone.

The reigning Finals MVP became the second youngest player in league history to score 20,000 points in a career, at 29 years and 103 days.

But to know to have it in numbers, in black and white to know that you belong in that group is pretty special to me. Im telling you, man, its never been a goal of mine to count how many points I have. Thats not why I play the game. To be under 30 and do it, thats special to me too. You play in this league for so long, and having an opportunity to do something like this at this age, you just cant take it for granted, because theres not too many players on that list.

The feat put him behind LeBron James, who reached it at 28 years and 17 days - but came into the league out of high school. Durant spent a collegiate season at Texas.

He finished the game against the Clippers with 40 points (25 in the first half), four rebounds, four assists, and six threes made.
