Former NBA player JJ Hickson charged with armed robbery

Former Cleveland Cavaliers big man J.J. Hickson was arrested Friday and is being held without bail in the Coweta County jail in Georga.

Ex-NBA player J.J. Hickson was arrested Friday and is being held without bail in the Coweta County jail in Georga on a charge of armed robbery with a knife, according to ESPN. He is currently is awaiting trial.

 

Coweta County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jimmy Yarbrough told the outlet that the arrest took place in connection with a home invasion in Senoia, Georgia. 

 

Yarbrough says several items were allegedly taken and one person was attacked during the robbery. According to the report, at least two people were involved with the alleged home invasion, but only Hickson was charged.

We thought it was best for me to get up out of there and thats what happened. They bought me out. Its no love lost. I wish those guys the best of luck. Now Im a Trail Blazer and Im really excited.

Hickson was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 19th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. The 29-year-old made at least $27 million in his eight-season NBA career, playing for Cleveland, the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards, according to ESPN. 

 

He averaged 9.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, last appearing in a game in 2015-16 season, and has played overseas since.
