Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade made a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to surprise James Shaw Jr, the remarkable hero of horrible mass shooting at a Waffle House in Tennessee, that left four people dead. Shaw wrestled the gun away from the shooter, preventing more deaths.

On the show, the hero told Degeneres that Wade was his favorite player, and then bam, the future Hall of Famer walked out and sat next to him, effusive with praise for Shaw.

When you get an opportunity to sit across from someone, they say, What would you say to him?'And I look at you and I know you dont want to be called a hero but I look at you as an American hero. I would sit across from you, as I am now, and say obviously how brave you are, but for me, when I sit down with my kids, and I sit down and talk to them about role models, who I want them to look up to, I would tell them to go look up to James Shaw Jr. So, thank you.
