Celtics Jayson Tatum tweeted at LeBron James when he was 14 with a throwback pic of the pair

Tatum has averaged 23.6 points and even outplayed Ben Simmons in his last five games, which is impressive. But LeBron James is even more powerful, smarter, and flat out better than the version he met as a child.

At just 20 years old, Boston Celtics rookie forward Jayson Tatum has been playing beyond his years. But once upon a time, the young man was also a star-struck fan.

Tatum was once a teenager dreaming of playing in the NBA, and he'd once met one LeBron James and there's a picture of it.

This version of Tatum pictured is even younger, but it was proof he'd met James. And he really wanted the Cleveland star (in his first go-round) to just follow him back and make his dreams come true.

And now, just six years later, Tatum will play one of his idols in the Eastern Conference finals, as a member of the Celtics.

For clarity and disclosure, Tatum's godfather is a longtime vet and former James teammate Larry Hughes so a young Jayson could see the path forward.
