The NBA has been busy this off-season making changes to the game. This time, they are making changes in an attempt to revive the All-star game. The traditional East vs. West format is being replaced with the new playground style format where the player who receives the highest number of votes from each conference will pick his team.

In addition, the NBA will be donating funds from the game to a charity of each teams choice. The 2018 NBA All-Star game will be held in Los Angeles on February 18th and will be the 67th rendition of the game. The changed were decided upon after complaints in recent years that the game wasn't competitive.

I'm thrilled with what the players and the league have done to improve the All-Star Game, which has been a priority for all of us

The selection process for the players and coaches will remain the same, only the selection of the teams will change. TNT will reveal the All-Star Game starters and captains on Thursday, Jan. 18 and then the reserves on Tuesday, Jan. 23. The All-star voting process by Verizon will tip off on Monday, Dec. 25 before five Christmas Day games across ESPN, ABC and TNT.
