Michael Jordan confirms release date for Air Jordan 11 'Prom Night'

Previously an unreleased sample, the long-overdue Jordan XI "Prom Night' release features a triple-black look, with the signature icy soles.

The Jordan Brand announced they would be releasing the somewhat controversial Air Jordan 11 (XI) "Prom Night" at a retail price point of $220.

This version was first seen way back in 2011, within the Air Jordan Blackout Sample collection. It's taken seven years, and there are some changes from the original sample, but it will be available for public consumption on May 26.

The XI, out of all of those shoes, is my favorite one. The reason I like it the most is partly because it has patent leather, the nylon and the carbon fiber shank -- and some of those things had never happened before -- but it was also designed, believe it or not, when Michael Jordan was retired.

It was initially called the "Blackout" as a sample and had a straight leather upper. The upper in the update is now a soft nubuck leather.

However, it maintains the triple-black upper, the signature patent leather, and includes the translucent outsole with black rubber gripping. One unique feature: the metallic Jumpman on the ankle.
