The Lakers thought they got the steal of the draft taking Lonzo Ball with the number two pick, but Kyle Kuzma had other thoughts. The rookie out of Utah is leading the league averaging 21 points per game in pre-season while shooting 65.8% from the field. This shouldn’t come a surprise to die-hard NBA fans as Kuzma averaged 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.

It’s safe to say Kyle Kuzma has already won over Lakers fans. People love this kid and for good reason #Lakers— Ryan Ward (@RyanWardLA) October 3, 2017
The 27th pick in this years draft has been putting on a show this pre-season. Alongside rookie Lonzo Ball, the self proclaimed “lightskin connection,” tore up the summer league leading the Lakers to a championship. Although it is just pre-season play, Kuzma is turning heads with his high level of play.
On draft day, I wasn’t really nervous at all. Then you turn on the draft, the first five picks go by and then you still thinking, Oh man, I don’t know where I’m going to go. It’s really just by the time draft hits, that’s when you get nervous.

It’s still early, but the Lakers might have found their Rookie of the Year, just not from the suspect they had originally thought.
