Durant has slowly transformed himself into one of the league's best defenders, averaging career-high 2.3 blocks per game, good for second in the NBA.

Reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green supports his Golden State Warriors teammate Kevin Durant as the possible leading candidate for this season's award, in comments captured by The Athletic's Anthony Slater after Wednesday's 126-101 blowout win over the Utah Jazz.

I think he is [a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year], if not the leading candidate. I dont think its really a race right now. The way hes been playing on the defensive side of the ball has been spectacular.

"So, its a thing now, which is impressive," he continues. "Because it always seemed like it wasnt possible to be a thing. But hes getting more and more attention for that."

"Obviously, hes helping our defensive tremendously with the way hes playing on that side of the ball. So, if I had to vote, if I had a vote, Id vote for him right now."
