Atlanta Hawks starting PG Dennis Schröder was arrested last night and was charged with a misdemeanor battery charge. The former first round pick out of Germany was released on bail, but has yet to comment on the situation.
According to a police report, officers responded to a fight call that occurred at a hookah bar in Brookhaven, Georgia, where Schroder lives. The police report stated a security camera caught Schroder and several others in a heated altercation with the victim. The report goes on to say that Schroder initiated physical contact by shoving the victim. The video showed Schroder and his crew striking the victim with their hands and feet, according to the report. Security intervened and pushed Schroder and the others away from the victim, the report says.
Scröeder was the second leading scorer on the team, and looks to be the go to man on the Hawks with both Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap heading elsewhere. Last season, Scröeder averaged 17.9 PPG, 6.3 APG, and 3.1 RPG.
